Wine tasting event at the Wine Society
9th March 2017
The Wine Society hosted and sponsored a fantastic wine tasting event in the exclusive members' room at their premises in Stevenage. Valued supporters of Stevenage Community Trust were invited to attend as a thank you for their continued commitment along with new businesses keen to find out more about the work of the Trust. Guests were welcomed by trustee of Stevenage Community Trust and CEO of The Wine Society, Robin McMillan followed by Matthew Horsley who provided an informal but highly knowledgeable and interesting tasting session consisting of 9 very different wines. The Trust's President and world renowned author, Ken Follett gave a touching and thought-provoking speech explaining how, thanks to the support and generosity from local businesses, the organisation is able to positively impact thousands of vulnerable people's lives each year across Stevenage and the surrounding villages.
The event was an overwhelming success attracting support from new members Radarwatch Ltd, Easypack Ltd, Bracey's Accountants and Lawrence Dean Recruitment who committed to donations totalling almost £5,000!
Jason Cox, Operations Director at Easypack Ltd commented "It was great to come along to the recent wine tasting event in support of the Trust and meet those involved. More importantly, it was uplifting to hear about the excellent work and support that is making a real difference in my home town of Stevenage. I look forward to further supporting the Trust".
Peter Bracey from Bracey's Accountants added "The entire team is absolutely delighted to have chosen Stevenage Community Trust as our charity of the year. Bracey's Accountants was founded in Stevenage and we're passionate about supporting our local community and seeing first-hand the improvements that this amazing charity makes to individuals lives." Trustee Paul Beasley said "This demonstrates the power of the Trust's work. When we have the opportunity to explain the difference we make to local people's lives we get this fantastic response. This is local business at its best, giving something back to the community of which it is a part. Our membership base has never been stronger nor their commitment greater. Thank you again to all our supporters."
